As Director of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) at The PENTA Building Group, Cliff leads all building information modeling implementation and management. Cliff has over 17 years of experience in the construction industry and is an innovative technology industry leader. Cliff is responsible for monitoring the coordination and execution of all projects that incorporate VDC processes. In addition to his role as Director of VDC, he is responsible for strategic technology initiatives for the operations and preconstruction groups. Cliff also leads PENTA’s corporate lean group and is passionate about reducing and eliminate waste in our industry.

1. Cliff talked about the need to remain adaptable to learn new skills along the way to get the job done. It is clear, Cliff has great agility and a healthy curiosity which has served him well. It is interesting that he said that wasn’t natural for him and he had to get outside of his comfort zone. It is funny that in those moments when we have to stretch outside our comfort is often when the magic happens.
2. We need to approach situations usually with a different mindset. Cliff mentioned that when he sets his mind to something, he knows he is going to achieve it and it becomes about figuring out the how. He followed that up with the quote “we don’t fail, we learn”. Amen. With so many things in life and construction, it may seem hard but when you approach it as a certainty it allows you the freedom to learn and grow in figuring out the details.
3. His passion for sharing knowledge to others and younger generations is contagious. There is a ton of power in simply showing up, investing time with others and seeking to have genuine communication with people.
